Sponsored by the Japan Consulate, Ambassador Mikio Mori and the City of New York, 110 NY area based Japanese organizations representing traditional dance, martial arts, music, anime, and media arts, presented with over 2,800 participants. An estimated 60,000 spectators attended the parade celebrating Japanese culture, food and arts in the USA. From the IKO, New York and New Jersey members ages 2yrs old and up, walked the parade, and conducted a series of demonstrations along the way down the iconic route along Central Park West from 81st to 67th street. At the main stage red carpet, IKO members performed Kihon and Tameshiwari demonstrations, which were covered by US and Japan national news media and press
