\n30 elite members from Kyokushinkaikan in Japan dedicated a demonstration at the NIKKO TOSHOGU SHRINE in the Tochigi prefecture as part of their 400 Year Memorial Grand Festival. The 400 year Memorial Grand Festival is a once in 50 year’s event to celebrate the 400th year after the death of the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, “Tokugawa Ieyasu”. Kyokushinkaikan dedicated a demonstration as part of the festival which included the Reitaisai (Grand Festival), Mikoshi-togyo-sai (Portable Shrine Procession) referred to as the Procession of 1,000 Samurai and others.

\nKancho Shokei Matsui also took part making a performance himself, the first since the demonstration in New York in June, 2003.
\n
\nKancho Matsui made the opening speech at the start of the demonstration in front of the 1,000+ crowd that gathered in front of the Gojunoto (Five-Story Pagoda).
\nThe demonstration started with all participants demonstrating the Kihon followed by Ido and Kata by the children and Sanbon Kumite by the women members then Kumite by the top fighters enthralling the audience.

\nNext was the Tameshiwari from the senior, oversees members and branch chief’s breaking all kinds of materials.
\n
\nThe finale was Kancho Matsui demonstrating the “Tensho” Kata and Bunkai followed by breaking bricks and stones with his “Shuto” and the grand finale breaking the roof tile in “Sunkei” drawing a large hand of applause from the 1,000+ crowd.

\nKancho Matsui ended the demonstration expressing his appreciation by saying “It was a great honor to dedicate the demonstration in front of Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu’s spirit, the father of the samurai society”<\/p>\n
